Privacy Policy

SnapRight is a free helper app that explains public-benefit letters in plain language and helps you keep track of SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, WIC, and TANF applications. SnapRight is not a government agency and does not decide who receives benefits. You still submit official applications through your state’s portal.

Information we collect

If you create an account, SnapRight stores:

• Account identifiers: email address and a user ID from sign-in (email, Sign in with Apple, or Google)
• Name, phone number, and home address you choose to enter
• Application records: program name (for example SNAP), status, and which checklist items you marked as done

We do not collect Social Security numbers, medical records, or other health information. Eligibility-quiz answers (age, income range, household size, and similar screening questions) stay on your device and are not uploaded.

Letters, camera, and photos

You can photograph a benefit letter with the camera or choose an image from your photo library. Optical character recognition (OCR) runs on your device. The photo and the text read from it are not uploaded to SnapRight’s servers. Only the non-sensitive application record described above is saved to your account.

Face ID / device passcode

Optional app lock uses Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode through Apple’s system prompt. Biometric data is processed on your device by iOS. SnapRight never sees or stores biometric templates. We only save a yes/no preference that lock is turned on (in on-device settings).

Sign in with Apple and Google

You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email. Apple and Google authenticate you and may share an email address and name with SnapRight so we can create your account. SnapRight does not post to those accounts or use them for advertising.

Where data is stored

Account and application data are stored in a Supabase project (hosted database and auth). Access is protected with row-level security (RLS) so a signed-in user can only read and write their own rows. Session tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain, not in plain settings. Network traffic uses HTTPS to Supabase.

How we use information

We use this information only to operate your account, fill in application details you asked us to remember, and show deadlines and checklists. We do not sell your data, do not use it for advertising, and do not share it with third parties except the hosting provider that stores it (Supabase) and as required by law.

Data minimization

SnapRight is built to store as little as possible. Documents are read on-device. Synced fields are limited to name, email, address, phone, and application status. Do not add Social Security numbers or health fields to the app or database without a separate compliance review. This policy does not claim HIPAA coverage.

Your choices

You can view and edit saved profile details in Settings, clear saved applications, or sign out. To request deletion of your account data, open an issue on the SnapRight GitHub repository.

Children

SnapRight is meant for adults applying for public benefits, not for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date above and post the new version at this URL.
